If you’re looking for a PYO that’s geared up for the whole family to enjoy, then Crockford Bridge Farm is definitely the place to visit.
It’s pumpkin season there right now, and the farm has several spooky displays of pumpkins, witches and other Halloween scares to delight the kids.
Pumpkin picking from the farm’s field is only available for two weekends of October and unfortunately both dates for this year have now passed.
However you can still pick out a pre-picked pumpkin from their lovely range – and wow do they have a lot of choice! From mini-pumpkins to white pumpkins, they have got pretty much every type of pumpkin you could possibly want.
There are lots of photo opportunities in their pumpkin shop, so it’s a lovely place to make some family memories.
We were lucky enough to visit on a very warm October day, so were able to sample the ice cream from the pretty pastel painted ice cream shack. There is also a tea shop where you can order hot and soft drinks, and plenty of picnic benches gathered next to a lovely little play area.
The play area includes three slides, some wooden swings and a playhouse. Our two were more than happy to spend an hour tearing around, they loved it.
There’s also a beehive which the girls were both fascinated with.
The pumpkin fun at Crockford culminates in a Pumpkin Patch Event from October 20 to October 28 where there are games, pumpkin carving and a theatrical show. While entry the rest of the season is free, for this event it is £4 per person. Having seen how fab their farm is, I’m sure this will be a lovely event for kids.
We loved our October visit to Crockford and I will definitely be coming back in the summer next year to enjoy a picnic and their lovely play area again. I would also love to check out their crop of strawberries when they return next year.
